Summary of Activity
Students will be using the book Duke Ellington by Andrea Davis Pinkney to create a regular and irregular verb resoruce book. The students, in groups of two, will search through the book to find regular and irregular verbs. Th students will make a spelling chart with the irregular verb (see example on the grammar activity page), using their words in context, and then decorating the page to create an appealing resource page. When the students are finished their page will be put into a class book that is left out for future reference when writing with irregular verbs.
Rationale
This activity was designed to help students see the difference in regular and irregular verbs within a piece of literature. By teaching this concept with literature in puts the skill in context for the students. This activity will ultimately provide students with a chance to see the importance of following this grammar rule. If a sentence need the word grown, and student changed it to grow due to the fact that they did not know how to change the verb, the sentence no longer makes sense. This activity will give them a chance to practice working with these verbs as well as working together as a class to help one another in the future.

Levels of Bloom's Taxonomy
Students will use the verb construct in this activity. Construct is found at the Application level of Bloom's taxonomy. Here, students are required to use their knowledge of newly learned material to provide facts about a topic. In this case, the topic is regular and irregular verbs. Students apply what they know to construct a resource for the class to be able to use in the near future. Overall, this Bloom's verb is very well applied in this activity, and will require students to extend their knowledge beyond their reading.
